This review describes the chemistry behind IP6's antioxidant activity: its phosphate groups sit in an axial-equatorial-axial arrangement unique to IP6, and that geometry gives a high-affinity interaction with iron that blocks iron's catalytic role in hydroxyl radical formation. The authors note that IP6's mineral-binding ability, long treated as an antinutrient concern, underlies a number of its health-promoting effects, and that in the context of a balanced diet the antinutrient effect is insignificant.

This review reports strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity for quercetin in cell and animal models, and summarises the human work to date - one trial found fewer upper respiratory infections at 1,000 mg/day in fit adults over 40, while another found 500-1,000 mg/day for 12 weeks raised plasma quercetin without moving innate immune measures. Quercetin's poor solubility is why phytosome forms like Quercefit were developed, and comparative human work on those forms remains to be done.
Evidence note: Ingredient-level and mechanistic. IP6's iron-binding chemistry is well characterised and is the clearest mechanism in the formula; lactoferrin's iron-binding affinity is equally well described in the laboratory, with human outcome trials at supplement intakes still to come; quercetin has extensive cell and animal antioxidant work plus mixed human trials, which is why phytosome forms such as Quercefit exist. What remains to be studied is this three-ingredient combination in a trial of its own.
A note on iron
Iron is essential. You need it to carry oxygen and make energy. The catch is that iron only behaves when it is bound and moving. Iron that sits in storage, or circulates unbound, is chemically reactive; it drives the free-radical chemistry researchers call oxidative stress, and elevated ferritin often travels with it.
Moving iron is a copper job. Ceruloplasmin, a copper-dependent enzyme, oxidizes iron so it can leave cells and be used. Without enough copper, that enzyme stalls and so does iron traffic. Retinol, real vitamin A, sits in the same system: low vitamin A status changes how the body handles iron.
That is why we build around whole-food copper, retinol, and magnesium instead of pushing more iron. Magnesium is there for its own reasons; the evidence tying it to iron directly is thin.
If you are thinking about iron, test first. Ferritin, serum iron, and saturation, read by your practitioner with your history in front of them. Iron is not right for everyone.
